Interrail Diaries #2

Day 2 began with another metro trip into town, we didn’t have a particular goal today but I knew I wanted to go a vegan bakery chain and also to the Sacre-Cœur Cathedral in Montemarte. The bakery experience may have been life changing - the options were out of this world! As well as having vegan versions of every popular French pastry they also had vegan baguettes with unique fillings! We were both enthralled by the baguette situation so we got one vegan tuna and one coleslaw and vegan fried chicken baguette. Both were amazing but the tuna really had us questioning whether it was actually tuna lol.

gonna be dreaming about these for a while…
The walk to the Cathedral was lovely, Montemarte is really beautiful and I’ve always wanted to go after watching Amelie. We ascended the many many steps and reached the top a little out of breath but the result was so worth it! The Cathedral is so intricate and otherworldly and inside was even better. We had to queue for a bit whilst this guy played Ed Sheeran songs but we were soon inside.

Unfortunately I started coughing like immediately and it was so damn loud in a silent echo-y room lol. I didn’t take many pictures because you aren’t really supposed to but I took a sneaky one of the dome.
how did they even make something like this?
The experience was great and i got a few things from the gift shop. We then walked around Montemarte and enjoyed the sun. And then we got a metro to the Seine and walked around outside of the Louvre which was pretty cool but I don’t regret not going inside really - it seemed quite busy.
Other things to note from the day: Police on rollerblades?!?!, crazy vegan cheese and looking after someone’s sweet greyhound while they went shopping. Overall Paris was so great! But we move on… there’s still lots we didn’t see that I would love to go back again and revisit :)
